Hyde & Seek screenings & crafts are back

Hyde & Seek is one of our most popular and long-running strands which has been an essential part of the Picture House programme for many years. In that time, it has been brilliant to see youngsters grow up to become avid adult cinemagoers themselves. During our closure, we took Hyde & Seek out on the road, where we continued to entertain family audiences, hosting many sold out monthly screenings with our good friends at HEART in Headingley.

Cinema is about discovery, and family screenings at the Picture House are the perfect way to introduce children to the big screen, to enjoy the experience of watching movies together, and to visit our heritage (but also very modern!) cinema, which will hopefully make these formative film memories so vivid and enduring.

We’ll be re-launching our Hyde & Seek strand on Saturday 1st July with a free screening of the adorable modern-classic Paddington (2014), featuring Peru’s hairiest expat and marmalade guzzler. It’s a wonderfully charming and kind-hearted tale about going on a fantastic journey, making new friends and discovering a new home, all wrapped up in a sentiment that the Picture House also knows so well, but everyone can relate to:

There will be a free craft activity at every Saturday screening, so do arrive early to join in the fun! Not only that, we also have a delicious range of reasonably priced drinks and snacks at our new café bar, including of course, that all-important popcorn.

We want our family screenings to be available to all, so every Hyde & Seek screening will now be 'Pay What You Can' which means that you’re free to pay as much or as little as you can. Our newly refurbished and refitted building is now even more accessible. Beginning later this summer, all of our Sunday Hyde & Seek screenings will be relaxed. Hyde & Seek is not just for the weekends though. We will also feature family films in other strands and collaborate with film festivals, organisations and film clubs across the UK, such as Leeds Young Film and London International Animation Festival.
