Myth & Ritual: Folklore on Film

Cast your runes! A major new season of folklore on film this July & August, in association with StudioCanal Presents.
Myth & Ritual: Folklore on Film
Something wicker this way comes... At HPPH this summer, we present folk horror classics and rare screenings of unique & vivid cultural artefacts we've unearthed for your viewing pleasure: a selection of 13 of the best international folklore films.
Myth & Ritual: Folklore on Film encompasses all that is fascinating and captivating about folklore, myths and rituals from around the world. From the UK horror classics of Blood on Satan's Claw and The Wicker Man, to the more obscure (but no less wonderful) delights of The White Reindeer from Finland, Australia's atmospheric Celia and the magnificently unique and beautiful Celestial Wives of the Meadow Mari from the banks of the Volga River in Russia.

Launching on Midsummer's Eve and spread across July and August, there will also be short films, introductions, panels & podcasts, talks and journal pieces. We've also specially commissioned 'Gingerbreadlings' to snack on and a limited edition poster of the season artwork, together with a zine featuring all the films, lovingly crafted by our local friends and deeply folk-obsessed collaborators at Hwæt!

Our season culminates in a vanishingly rare screening of a lost Irish folklore classic The Outcasts, by permission of the director Robert Wynne-Simmons (writer of Blood on Satan's Claw), which is an occasion not to be missed.

Would you like more folklore for your pennies? We also have a special season ticket offer!

The more individual films you see in this season, the more money you save.

• See two different films, save 15%
• See three different films, save 20%
• See four or more different films, save 25%

Tickets must be purchased together in a single transaction for discounts to apply.
This offer works in conjunction with 16mm/35mm/70mm members and concession discounts, helping you save even more money. It does not include Song of the Sea, which is Pay What You Can, or work in conjunction with 15-25 members' discounts.
