Intentionally Wes Anderson

A cinematic retrospective
Intentionally Wes Anderson
As we await the arrival of Wes Anderson’s latest film, The Phoenician's Scheme, join us this spring for a deep dive into Anderson's incredible back catalogue, as we celebrate one of cinema's most precise and original talents.
There’s nothing accidental about our love for Wes Anderson this May at HPPH. From meticulous production design and photography, to iconic ensemble performances, Anderson's eye for detail make the big screen the perfect place to revisit his most loved films. And as part of this special season, we're delighted to include The Royal Tenenbaums, in tribute to the late, great, Gene Hackman.

In tribute to Gene...

As part of this season we’re delighted to programme The Royal Tenenbaums starring the late, great, Gene Hackman who passed away last month. The hardened figures of films like The French Connection or Mississippi Burning may be the ones which most defined Hackman’s career but there’s a joy in revisiting his performance as Royal Tenenbaum in which he trips expertly between lightness and melancholy.

That’s one of the joys of Anderson’s films. From start to finish he has crafted a universe where some of the finest performers working today can play.
