What's happening in LS6 and beyond?
Local events happening soon
Leeds Palestinian Film Festival
This incredible festival feels particularly vital in the work they do to give voice to Palestinians and contextualise the horrific loss of life that is happening across Israel at the moment. As well shining a light on the hidden and human stories of the Palestinian people, with film screenings in venues across the city, they are hosting workshops.
Leeds Palestinian Film Festival is happening between November 7th – December 9th. You can see the full programme here.
Markets at Left Bank
The next free Night Market at Left Bank is happening this Friday (8th December). Why not make a night of it and visit us round the corner while you’re at it? That night we’re hosting Queer East on their tour with a very special screening of Home Ground, which tells the story of LesVos, the first openly lesbian bar in South Korea, and its owner Myong-woo, whose witty commentary prompts a broader reflection on Seoul’s lesbian scene.
If you can’t make it to Left Bank’s Night Market, they’re also hosting a Christmas market on Saturday (9th December) and Sunday (10th December).
Saturday Family Film Club: Movies from the Bookshelves
Horsforth Community Hub and Library host a monthly free family screening. This month’s is on Sat 9th December at 1pm.
Workshops at Left Bank
There are always so many great workshops hosted by our friends round the corner at Left Bank. Coming up, they’ve got a festive lino printing workshop with Megan Dobbyn on Wed 6th December. On the same night, they’re hosting a wreath workshop, an LGBTQ+ Festive Letters of Community workshop and a candle-making workshop. On Wed 13th December, Left Bank have a festive cards – screen printing workshop, a resin jewellery workshop and a dog life drawing class.
Events at HEART
The wonderful Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre have a free monthly poetry open mic night coming up on Mon 11th December. They’ve also got a Christmas market with stalls from local makers on Sat 16th December and they’re hosting a festive supper club that night.
Women in Film networking event - Christmas Gathering
