Hyde Park Picture House to reopen from 30th June!
The Hyde Park Picture House will return with a summer of special screenings and live events.
We'll be reopening with a summer-long celebration of special screenings and live events, as we extend a massive thank you to our amazing audience, partners and funders for your incredible support. As part of our reopening programme, we'll be running a series of launch events for each of our new and returning strands, as well as special Q&As, sponsors events and preview screenings – giving everyone an opportunity to be part of this special period in the cinema’s history.
Our opening film will be the new Wes Anderson feature Asteroid City which you will be able to see between Friday 30th June and Thursday 6th July. Our much-missed Bring Your Own Baby screenings will be relaunched with a special screening of Asteroid City for parents, carers and their little ones on Wednesday 5th July.
Other launch events we're excited about include the launch of Tuesday Wonders, a strand dedicated to documentaries, on Tuesday 4th July, when we'll be screening Shabu with a special Q&A with the director and main star, Shabu. The official launch of Cinema Africa! will be celebrated by a screening of The Wedding Party on Saturday 29th July. A fond favourite of ours, Brassed Off, will launch our reRUN strand on July 30th, and we are excited to be joined by the director for this event.
During this reopening month we'll also be running a series of open days where we're inviting you to come and explore our building, apart from our second screen which is due to open later in July. During these open days, we will be playing a free programme of short films, archive material and artists' work. This will provide you with a chance to see up-close all the heritage conservation work that’s taken place, as well as the new accessible facilities we’re proud to have introduced.
To mark the countdown to reopening, we're also delighted to have launched our brand-new website, which has been expertly designed and built by the amazing teams at Rabbithole and Let’s Dance respectively. On our new site you’ll find details of all our upcoming events, with the full July programme soon to be added in the coming weeks. We've also introduced our new Journal, where we'll be sharing stories from the HPPH team and our amazing partners.
Thanks so much to everyone for your support and patience as we prepare to reopen – we simply can't wait to welcome you all this summer!
