Hello to new & returning students in Leeds!
Introducing your friendly local cinema
Hyde Park Picture House is a friendly community cinema which is open to all. So, whether you’re looking for an escape from homesickness or too much work, or looking for a change of environment for getting through your essays, we can’t wait to welcome you! Now that we have two screens, our programme is bigger and more exciting than ever, ranging from small local films and hidden gems that are hard to see elsewhere, to blockbusters like Barbie. We host preview screenings and Q&A events which sometimes feature international guests, including at our upcoming Black Again! Fifty Years of Blaxploitation programme where we’ll be joined by Blaxploitation expert Josiah Howard who is coming over from America.
Our cinema is a great place to meet with friends or find a calm space to work as we now have a Café Bar, a Community Room and The Nook beside Screen Two. We have a delicious range of drinks and snacks from local suppliers including beer from Kirkstall and Ridgeside breweries, Latitude wines, ethically sourced El Salvador North Star coffee, Northern Bloc ice cream and tiffin, flapjacks and cookie sandwiches from the wonderful That Old Chestnut.
Free Freshers' Screenings
We’re hosting a couple of free freshers’ screenings this week. On Wednesday at 14:00 we’re showing one of Greta Gerwig’s earlier works before Barbie, the brilliant Frances Ha. And on Saturday at 22:30, we’re showing the brain-bogglingly entertaining, Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Students and non-students are all welcome to these screenings.
Student discounts & 15-25 memberships
We offer concession tickets to students for £7.50 a ticket and our free 15-25 membership means you can get tickets for £6 as well as additional offers.
