Leeds Palestinian Film Festival

This long-running festival returns with another programme of films shining a light on the lives of the Palestine people.
Leeds Palestinian Film Festival
For its eleventh edition, Leeds Palestinian Film Festival pays homage to Palestinian cultural expression, and its role in sustaining the enduring identity of the Palestinian people despite 75 years of expulsion, occupation, and destruction.
The festival, a staple in the Leeds cultural scene, aims to provide a platform for Palestinian voices and stories. This year’s programming promises to be as inspiring and thought- provoking as ever, with a focus on powerful narratives, a compelling mix of feature films, documentaries, shorts, and panel discussions, showcasing both emerging and established Palestinian voices.

What is Leeds Palestinian Film festival?

Launching in 2015, Leeds Palestinian Film Festival (LPFF) is a city-wide, multi-venue festival, screening fiction, non-fiction and short films that shine a light on Palestine and the Palestinian people, challenging one-dimensional views of Palestinians

We’ve been proud to work with LPFF every year since its inception because hosting festivals allows us to present a broader range of film work alongside our (relatively) mainstream new release programming which is dominated by films which have secured UK distribution and are largely English language or Eurocentric. Whilst wonderful, these new releases often exclude large volumes of amazing film work especially that made by marginalised filmmakers or representing the experiences of marginalised communities. Festival collaborations allow us to push against this, centring the stories people wish and need to share about their lives.
