Hamnet
12A
1580 England. Impoverished Latin tutor William (Mescal) meets free spirit Agnes (Buckley), and they begin a passionate affair that leads to marriage and three children. As Will’s theatre career takes off in London, Agnes anchors the family’s domestic world alone. When tragedy strikes, the couple’s bond faces a bitter test, but the crucible of their shared suffering sets the stage for the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet – the most famous of his plays, and one which bears a name interchangeable with that of his son.
Pre-recorded Q&A
In partnership with Universal UK and select cinemas, you can watch the film together with a special Reclaim The Frame recorded Q&A, in which they spoke with the director Chloé Zhao, writer Maggie O’Farrell and actor Jessie Buckley about their experience of bringing Agnes’s story to life on screen, the restorative power of nature, the grief and joy of it all. The Q&A will follow two screenings: SAT 18 Jan at 13:00 & MON 19 JAN at 20:10.
