The Zone of Interest

Why watch?
“Ten years in the making, Glazer was driven to bring The Zone of Interest to the screen in part down to his experience growing up in a thriving Jewish community on the outskirts of London amongst whom the legacy of the Holocaust was not discussed, but ever present. The film is many things but at its core sits a difficult interrogation of the banality of evil and the complicity of humans to participate in one another's suffering.”

BAFTA favourites return!
A loose adaptation of Martin Amis' 2014 novel of the same name, the film follows the Höss family in 1943, who've made their home next door to the Auschwitz concentration camp in German-occupied Poland. Rudolf takes the children out to swim and fish whilst his wife, Hedwig, spends her time tending the beautiful garden. Servants go about the house completing chores and the belongings of those imprisoned next door are given to the family, as terrible crimes take place over the garden walls.
Nominated for nine BAFTAs and five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director, The Zone of Interest is the chilling and profound new work from acclaimed director Jonathan Glazer (Under the Skin).
