Lionheart
PG
In Lionheart (2018), Adaeze, a determined and stylish young woman, is thrust into the spotlight when her father’s transport business faces a crisis. With the support of her strong, close-knit family, and despite sexist challenges, she battles against tough odds to save the company.
Directed by Genevieve Nnaji in her debut, the film weaves a heartwarming tale of ambition, unity, and resilience. Set in Enugu, it breaks from typical Nollywood norms, offering a refreshing look at gender equality and the importance of family. Featuring a stellar cast, including Nkem Owoh, Pete Edochie, and Onyeka Onwenu, Lionheart is a delightful, empowering story.
The film is screening as part of International Women’s Day 2025 and is supported by Leeds International African Arts Festival, Black Women's Project and the The Black Feminist Society at University of Leeds.
