'The Spectral Child on Screen' series brings together a carefully selected programme of films from a range of historical periods and cinematic traditions, all of which have the motif of a ghost of a child at their heart.
With contextual information by leading academic, Dr Lucy Arnold, these screenings offer audiences an opportunity to encounter these minor hauntings in new contexts.
The 'Spectral Child on Screen' Film Festival is part of the AHRC-funded 'Haunting Issues: Children, Spectrality and Culture' Research Network. Formed in 2022, the network brings together scholars from the fields of literature, film, history, sociology, and philosophy, to investigate the intersection between childhood states and states of spectrality as registered in imaginative or creative texts.
