Veganuary & Dry January at HPPH

The majority of our snacks are vegan-friendly which makes HPPH the ideal place to visit during Veganuary! The incredibly talented local bakers at Queen of Tarts provide us with the most delicious sweet and savoury goods. We highly recommend their ginger treacle tarts; Viennese whirls; sweet potato, feta and chickpea rolls; vegetable, hummus & sumac rolls; and the chocolate orange tiffins and chocolate, date & ginger tiffins which they're currently making on behalf of their also very talented friends at That Old Chestnut. 

Another of our brilliant suppliers who make Veganuary easy are the great people at Northern Bloc. So many of their ice creams are vegan – even the creamy ones you’d swear must have dairy in them. I’m looking at you Salted Caramel! 

If you’re in more of a savoury mood, we stock Olly’s olives and pretzels which are also vegan. 

If you’d like to make your tea, coffee or hot chocolate vegan, just ask for oat milk instead of dairy milk. 

Whether you’re challenging yourself to Dry January, or cutting down on alcohol for good, we’ve got plenty of delicious drink options. If you’re cutting down rather than completely cutting alcohol out, our friends at Kirkstall Brewery have stocked us with a great option – Virtuous – their 0.5% low-alcohol IPA. We recommend Big Drop’s Reef Point 0.5% craft lager or their Paradiso Citra IPA. Or, if you’re going completely alcohol-free but miss the flavour, we sell bottles of Veltins 0% Pilsner.  

We’ve also got a wide selection of soft drinks. A firm staff favourite is Fritz-kola. Other stock highlights include Dalston’s Peach / Rhubarb & sparkling water, Karma Lemonade, Karma Orangeade, Mango Rubicon, Ting, Old Jamaica Ginger Beer, tonic, orange juice and Cawston juice cartons. If you need any further incentive to keep it up with choosing soft drinks over alcohol – most of our soft drinks cost just £2 so you’re saving money too! 

Although we’ve got quite a small café bar space, we’re always looking to fill in any gaps in what we’ve got on offer for our customers’ refreshments needs. Soon we’ll have new sweets for sale starting with Squashies. We’re also conscious that we don’t have as many gluten-free options as we’d like to. We’d love your feedback as we explore potential gluten-free options.
