Artwork commission for Menelik Shabazz season

From Burning an Illusion and Time and Judgment, to the more recent The Story of Lovers Rock – Menelik Shabazz's career as a director, writer and producer was truly groundbreaking, and we're very excited to be presenting a season of his work and legacy at the Hyde Park Picture House this Black History Month. 

To help promote this special season, we'd love to work with an artist/designer/animator, who's both familiar with the Picture House's programme and Shabazz’s work, and ideally local to Leeds.

We're open to exploring a number of different creative routes, from illustrative, to photographical, to typographical – and would be particularly interested in artwork  that has the potential to be used in motion design, for use in animated posters and graphics. The final artwork will be required in a number of sizes and formats, for use across our social media channels, website and cinema screens.

We have a budget of £500 – plus free cinema tickets and HPPH membership, worth £100+.

We're aiming to confirm who we'll be working with by the end of the month – at which point they'll have two weeks to share some initial drafts, before sharing final artwork by the end of July.
