KS3/4 History and Citizenship cross-curricular study day
Life in Modern Britain: migration, identity, and democracy - a KS3 Citizenship and History cross-curricular study day
This interactive, activity-led study day at HPPH, on Wed 04 Mar, offers a special curation of films from the BFI National and Regional Archives aimed at furthering students’ engagement and knowledge in the cross-curricular themes of migration, democracy, rights and identity.
Archive films will be explored alongside guided learning activities that place these films in the context of cross-curricular themes and support relevant learning outcomes for KS3 and KS4 History and Citizenship students.
In the second part of the session, students will explore these themes closer to home with a special screening of David Oluwale - His Life and His Legacy (2025), which tells the story of the Nigerian-British citizen from his origins in Nigeria to his death in Leeds in 1969 at the hands of two police officers.
Following the screening, we're delighted to welcome the David Oluwale Memorial Association, which, since its foundation, has engaged communities with David’s story to promote equality, diversity and racial harmony across the city.
