Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
15
Somewhere in the 1980s, bestselling horror author Garth Marenghi and his publisher/publicist, Dean Learner, made their own low-budget television series with a single intent: to change the evolutionary course of Man over a series of half-hour episodes. Set in Darkplace Hospital, built over the very gates of Hell, in Romford, London, we follow the adventures of Dr. Rick Dagless, M.D., as he fights the forces of darkness while simultaneously coping with the pressures of day-to-day admin.
Now, for the first time in Leeds on the big screen in all it's hilariously ramshackle glory, we're screening all six episodes back-to-back of the now legendry British horror parody TV series created by Richard Ayoade and Matthew Holness.
“The doors of Darkplace were open. Not the literal doors of the building, but evil doors, dark doors, doors to the beyond. Doors hard to shut because they were abstract and didn’t have handles. More like portals, really.”
There will be a 15 minute interval halfway through the screening. Free members tickets are not available for this event, however 35mm & 70mm membership discount is applicable.
