When hopeless romantic Louisa, Shirley Maclaine, signs an unsolicited multimillion-dollar check to the IRS, government officials begin to question her sanity and send her to a psychiatrist. It's in the doctors office, where we learn the secret of her millions. Her string of husbands, all of who ultimately meet early demise chasing wealth and success leaving her a rich widow in this big-budget super production from Singin' in the Rain writers Comden and Green.
Through zany genre-bending vignettes we meet each of her husbands all played by leading men of the time, Paul Newman, Robert Mitchum, Dean Martin, Dick Van Dyke, Gene Kelly and Robert Cummings with stunning backdrops, big musical numbers and decadent costumes.
