15
Wealthy businessman Zsa-zsa Korda appoints his only daughter, a nun, as sole heir to his estate. As Korda embarks on a new enterprise, they soon become the target of scheming tycoons, foreign terrorists and determined assassins.
With comparisons to Wes Anderson favourite The Royal Tenenbaums (“It’s from the same well” - Anderson) – The Phoenician Scheme sees the director assemble a typically iconic ensemble, including Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch and Hope Davis.
Showing as part of Intentionally Wes Anderson – a cinematic retrospective, celebrating the loved filmmaker's incredible back catalogue this Spring.
Details
“An absolute gas; one of his funniest, most madcap adventures yet.”
Little White Lies
“Anderson’s ability to consistently reinvent himself while retaining his essence will always go down a treat.”
Empire
“On the surface, the latest from the beloved auteur feels like a lark—it’s one of his flat-out goofiest movies, filled with physical humor and sight gags—but he’s also playing with deeper themes like finding purpose in family instead of business and the way oligarchs can manipulate both. ”
