Scarygirl
PG

A steampunk animation based on the acclaimed graphic novel, toys and game by Nathan Jurevicius and featuring a stellar voice cast for the ears and a visual treat for the eyes.
Animation • Quirky • Heartfelt

Scarygirl follows Arkie, a young girl with a talent for technology and a tentacle-like arm, who was raised in secret by her kind but cautious father, Blister, a rare Giant Octopus with the ability to regenerate life. When her father is kidnapped for his prized abilities and their idyllic world is threatened by a sudden loss of sunlight, Arkie sets out on a journey to the City of Light: a dazzling, modern city controlled by the mysterious Dr. Maybee. As she tries to find her father, Arkie discovers that all is not what it seems and this incredible new world is one of great danger, and full of answers to questions she never knew she had.

While contemporary issues of climate crisis and genetic engineering are at the fore of the plot, the themes of Scarygirl are simple and timeless: identity, friendship, love, and family. Through stunning, handcrafted 3D animation, the story of Arkie and her differing abilities will captivate audiences of all ages.

All weekend Hyde & Seek Screenings are Pay What You Can including £0.

For our Saturday screening, join us at 10.30am for drop in, self-led comic book inspired activities.

Our Sunday morning Hyde & Seek screenings in Screen Two are Autism friendly. These relaxed screenings are intended to provide a safe environment for neurodiverse audiences and anyone who finds standard screenings challenging. They feature prompt start times, raised lighting, reduced volume and a relaxed attitude to noise/moving around. To give audiences extra space, we reduce the capacity at these screenings, so pre-booking is advised as they often sell out.
