Rope
PG
Just before hosting a dinner party, Philip Morgan and Brandon Shaw strangle a mutual friend with a piece of rope, purely as a Nietzsche-inspired philosophical exercise. Hiding the body, they arrange a dinner party, welcoming their guests, including the victim's oblivious fiancée and the college professor whose lectures inadvertently inspired the killing.
Famously shot in 'real time and one take', Rope is a true Hitchcock classic, with a typically droll and brilliant performance by Jimmy Stewart.
Rope will be presented by The Evolution of Horror, who will also be recording a live podcast episode as part of the screening.
The Evolution of Horror is a weekly podcast in which Mike Muncer, the host, explores the history of the horror genre by delving into particular sub-genres across several weeks. each episode Mike is joined by a different guest: a critic, filmmaker or expert, to discuss a particular film in depth, to look at its place within a sub-genre and its impact and legacy on cinema history.
