Poor Things

Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn , a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.
Produced by Emma Stone and directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite 2018, Dogtooth 2009), Poor Things is a magnificently ambitious film which crafts a visual world that is both meticulous and stunning.
Within this world the performers at the top of their craft, led by a magnetic Stone, bring to life Alasdair Gray's darkly humorous and stinging postmodernist take on Frankenstein.

“Everything in it – every frame, every image, every joke, every performance – gets a gasp of excitement.”
The Guardian
“Yorgos Lanthimos’s feminist Frankenstein comedy is scabrous, smart and obscenely funny.”
Time Out
“Poor Things is the best film of Lanthimos’ career and already feels like an instant classic, mordantly funny, whimsical and wacky, unprecious and unpretentious, filled with so much to adore that to try and parse it all here feels like a pitiful response to the film’s ambitions.”
