Why watch?
“I finally got to see my beloved East Africa on screen in a way that it hasn't been depicted before. From the opening vibrations at the beginning of the film to the end, I felt moved to protest for change.”
Philippa Walusimbi,
Cinema Africa! Advisory Group Member

An incredible, unique and contemporary Afro-futurist Sci-fi punk musical. The film is about an intersex African hacker, a coltan miner and the virtual marvel born as a result of their union – who attempt a takeover of the authoritarian regime that's exploiting the region's natural resources - and its people.
Neptune Frost uses the musical genre to embrace oral tradition and song-poetry deep in the roots of African history and modern culture to express the complexity of the Rwandan identities explored in the film. The narrative structure unfolds through musical and rhetorical allegories that acknowledge themes of patriarchy and feminist science fiction literature.
To explore the themes of the film, there will be a small informal discussion event on Thursday 31 August. Invites will be sent to all attendees of the screening.
