Just Another Girl on the I.R.T.
15

Chantel Mitchell is an intelligent, articulate, Black high-school girl living in Brooklyn and dreaming of medical school, a family, and escape from the generational poverty and life her friends seem to have accepted as their lot. But when she meets Tyrone, personal and relationship challenges might get in the way of fulfilling her dreams.
The only feature film by writer-director Leslie Harris, Just Another Girl on the I.R.T. is a vibrant, effervescent film centred on an incredibly confident performance by the effortlessly engaging Ariyan A. Johnson. Repeatedly breaking the fourth wall years before Fleabag, the film is fun, but also doesn't shy away from being honest and direct about the tougher situations Chantel has to deal with.
A chance to see an absolute classic of nineties American filmmaking.
