“There’s a lovely cinematic way in which Devos shoots, every image is infused with warmth and a real deep beauty. The result is a film which feels deeply connected to both other people and the landscape.”

This week's Hyde Park Pick
A Romanian construction worker deciding to return home, cooks soup from what's left in his fridge, and gifts it to his family and friends. Taking a detour through Brussels he soon crosses paths with a Belgian-Chinese woman studying moss for her PhD. Precise and perfectly formed, Here is suffused with altruism and tiny gestures - a story of those who live almost invisible lives.
Inspired by Robin Wall Kimmerer's book Gathering Moss, director Das Bevos' fourth feature journeys from the macro to micro, each delicately echoing each other in a portrait of a city as a living organism, its inhabitants lost, and found.
Details
“Devos' profound yet miraculously weightless feature. It peers head-on at life's surprises, devastating and precious alike... It touches the heart and lovingly knocks you sideways.”
The Hollywood Reporter
“A sublime look at dreamers contemplating their place in the world. Dreamy imagery with an endearing simplicity.”
Slant Magazine
“Remarkable. Here is fully present and dazzlingly alive.”
