From Hilde, With Love

Why watch?
“One of the reasons I loved the film was that it allowed me to walk out of the cinema with another hero to hang on my mental wall and there is such a pleasure in seeing that wall become so laden alongside a sadness that there is such need.”
Wendy Cook,
Head of Cinema

Hyde Park Pick: From Hilde, With Love

Berlin, 1942. The inconspicuous Hilde gradually finds her place in the resistance group which will come to be known as the “Red Orchestra”. Hilde falls in love with Hans, flourishes and, in spite of the constant danger to her life, is happy for a summer. When the Gestapo arrest members of the group in the autumn, the pregnant Hilde is among their number. In prison, she develops unexpected strength, giving birth to her son and keeping the memory of her beloved husband alive.
Before the film, we will show Kate Bush's short film Little Shrew (Snowflake) (PG, 2025, 4mins). This animated music video follows a shrew navigating its way through war zones and chimes with the central anti-war theme in From Hilde, With Love.
