Nightclub performer Don (Fred Astaire) finds himself heartbroken when his dance partner Nadine (Ann Miller) ends both their professional and romantic relationship.

Desperate to get over their break-up and prove himself he boldly vows he can make any girl a star before next year's Easter parade. Unfortunately for him the girl he chooses is Hannah (Judy Garland) who can barley tell her left from right never mind dance!
