Agatha's Almanac

Why watch?
“A gentle, peaceful and uniquely beautiful film of a unique woman's life and timely example to us all that there's another way of living.”
Robb,
Operations & Programme Manager
In a world shaped by speed and excess, 90-year-old Agatha Bock’s off-grid life offers another path. Fiercely independent and alone on her ancestral farm in Canada, Agatha cultivates heirloom seeds, vegetables and flowers entirely by hand, preserving generations of ecological knowledge and sustainable practice.
Without running water or modern technology, her daily rituals reflect a profound connection to land, seasonality and self-sufficiency. Filmed over six years by an all-female crew on luminous 16mm, Agatha's Almanac immerses us in handmade textures, rural sounds and meditative processes; a quietly powerful window into a defiant way of living.
