“Impossible to defend.” (John Waters) A rare & bloody double-bill from the master of gore Herschell Gordon Lewis.
Horror • Cult • Violent
Part of Creatures of the Night
Part of One Hell of a Cinema

This Halloween, we present a double bill of Herschell Gordon Lewis' most bloody and shocking films!

Blood Feast (1963) 67mins

The filmography of genre movie maverick Herschell Gordon Lewis brimmed with the mad, macabre, and just downright bizarre. One of the most unhinged of all his directorial efforts and certainly the most influential, is his original gore-fest Blood Feast: the first-ever splatter film.

Dorothy Fremont is looking to throw a party unlike any other, and she gets just that when the decidedly sinister Fuad Ramses caters the event. Promising to provide her guests with an authentic Egyptian feast, Ramses promptly acquires the necessary ingredients: the body parts of young nubiles.

Featuring a host of stomach-churning gore gags including the infamous “tongue” sequence, Blood Feast more than lives up to its name and remains essential viewing for any self-respecting horror fan.

The Wizard of Gore (1970) 95mins

Before Basket Case and Bad Taste there was The Wizard of Gore! Montag the Magnificent’s Grand Guignol nightclub act is making waves. But when his onstage tricks manifest in real life, it’s up to a reporter named Sherry to make sense of it all . . . or die trying.

The crown jewel of the partnership between director H.G. Lewis and writer/splatter FX artist Allison Downe The Wizard of Gore is a sludge-horror carnival ride that retains the power to shock over forty years later. With its ferocious gore effects, experimental aesthetic, and annihilation of all earthly logic, this dream-like opus joins Multiple Maniacs and Night of the Living Dead as one of the most unforgettable midnight movies in history.

In the words of Montag, “Are you certain you know what reality is?”

There will be a 15 minute interval between the two films.

There are limited tickets for this event, so pre-booking is essential. Don't miss out!

All tickets are £15. Memberships or other discounts are not applicable for this double bill.
