The Devil Wears Prada
PG
"All right Everyone! Gird Your Loins!" because GFP are bringing you the best fashion-magazine-based film of ALL TIME (are there many others?... no, not really, but there needn't be, because this film is perfect).
Our 2000s tale follows Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway), a recent journalism graduate, as she navigates the print-media empolyment landscape of NYC. After what can only be described as a disastrous first meeting with her new employer, Runway Magazine's Satan-in-Chief Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), “... you have no style, or sense of fashion”, she bags one of the most coveted jobs in the business. We join Andy in her journey from “*That* I cant even talk about” to assistant extraordinaire while she is helped, and hindered, repectively, by Creative Director, Nigel (Stanley Tucci), and First Assistant, Emily (Emily Blunt).
A full-to-the-brim cast of Academy Award-nominated, and Academy Award-winning actors (we're crossing our fingers Stanley gets another nom for Conclave), results in a film with moments of perfectly-pitched instantly-quotable humour and suprisingly subtle gravity.
We purse our lips. "That's all".
P.S we must pre-warn any first time watchers about Nate, is he one of the worst boyfriends ever (yes!) does he have great hair AND make a marvelous looking grilled cheese (also yes).
