Struggling actress Madeleine and her best friend Pauline, an unemployed lawyer, live in a cramped flat with rent overdue. When opportunity knocks after a theatrical producer who made inappropriate advances towards Madeleine turns up dead, Madeleine stands trial for murder and ascends to decadent stardom. A new life of fame, wealth, and tabloid celebrity awaits, until the truth comes out.
Adapted from a 1934 play by Georges Berr and Louis Verneuil, and featuring a scenery-chewing Isabelle Huppert having a wonderful time throughout, The Crime Is Mine is a satirical murder-mystery farce from one of French cinema’s most creatively prolific directors, François Ozon.
