Leeds Queer Film Festival celebrates LGBT History Month
This LGBT History Month we're pleased to be working with Leeds Queer Film Festival to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the BAFTA-winning film Pride, telling the true story of the Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners (LGSM) movement of the 1980s.
Biographical • Funny • Empowering
Under attack by both the Thatcher government and the police, striking miners found perhaps unexpected allies in the LGBT community. Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners organised to raise funds and awareness about the miners’ cause, including providing transportation and other logistical support throughout the 1984-1985 strike.
Pride brings this story to life, with an all-star cast including Imelda Staunton, Bill Nighy, and Andrew Scott. Directed by Matthew Warchus and written by Stephen Beresford.
