1970s Rome was a time of great social and cultural change, full of grit and glamour. The young Borghetti family has just moved into one of the many freshly-built apartment blocks in the city. The move is bittersweet.

Loosely based on the director Emanuele Crialese’s transition, L’immensità (The Immensity) is a sun-dappled nostalgia trip marked by young Andrew’s hot temper and robust inner fantasy life. He was assigned female at birth, but he knows — despite resistance from his emotionally distant father, his siblings and his extended family — that he is a man.
