John Keenan: 48 Years, Live in Leeds!
14+

at City Varieties Music Hall

Why watch?

This guy wasn’t just a promoter; he was basically the glue holding much of the scene together. Organizing gigs at spots like the Polytechnic or the F-Club, he gave these emerging bands a platform. And honestly, the Futurama Festivals that he founded—they were a gamechanger.

Erwin Blom,

Journalist
Join legendary promoter John.F.Keenan in conversation at City Varieties, as he attempts to chronicle 48 years of promoting live music in and around Leeds.

John Keenan has brought some of the biggest acts you can think of to perform at multiple Leeds venues including U2, The Police, Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Oasis to name just a few. He also helped launch the careers of local acts such as The Sisters of Mercy, Gang of Four and The Mekons.

John will be talking about his life in the industry, presenting pictures, posters and footage from his iconic Futurama Festivals. A Q&A session will follow.

This event is taking place at City Varieties Music Hall, as part of our Rage & Reinvention season, presented by Leeds Heritage Theatres.
