Leeds Film Night proudly returns for its second edition championing independent filmmakers by offering a platform to showcase their work, networking and exploring the film business.
Following the success of their sold-out pilot initiative, Leeds Film Night returns for its second edition, showcasing a powerful lineup of indie short films with culturally significant stories. This year’s theme shines a spotlight on South Asian stories and filmmakers, celebrating the culturally rich narratives of South Asian communities in Leeds and beyond - a community that has been an integral part of our region since the 1950s.
We are partnering with filmmakers from Leeds and beyond whose stories resonate with the unique interests and experiences of our local communities. Their films explore themes of immigration, identity, and cultural conflict, offering unique perspectives that inspire and create meaningful conversations.
Following the screenings, filmmakers will have an exclusive opportunity to engage in discussions with industry experts, including representatives from the BFI and Doc Fund, who will share valuable insights into film financing and film programming.
You will hear from filmmakers who have successfully navigated the challenges of securing funding, from private equity to grants, in today’s increasingly competitive landscape. These discussions will offer filmmakers practical advice on writing successful grant applications to pitching your dream film. You’ll also gain valuable insights into what the industry is looking for, how to pitch to private investors, where to find them, how to get sponsorships, and much more.
Whether you're a filmmaker, actor, crew member, or simply passionate about independent cinema, Leeds Film Night is a space to celebrate indie films, network, and find inspiration to create your next project.
This Event Is Supported by Film Hub North with National Lottery funding on behalf of the BFI Film Audience Network and Hyde Park Picture House
