Spike Lee… In a Day is a daylong event you can book into with films and talks that provide an examination and context around the films Mo' Better Blues (1990), He Got Game (1998) and Do the Right Thing (1989). The day will delve into the social and cultural themes that influenced them, and those that were impacted by them.
The films themselves showcase the ambition and passion of a filmmaker concerned with addressing representation and pertinent socio-economic issues. The trio of films selected, tackle the conflicted nature of race, politics, class, and belonging within American society from a director whose dedication to the representation of the Black voice, and examination of its internal cultural complexities has generated both celebration and challenge.
