Why watch?
“Featuring radiant performances from the three leads, culminating in an astonishing monologue delivered by Mzia Arabuli, Crossing is a poetic look at the transformative power of encounters and one I cannot wait to revisit.”

This week's Hyde Park Pick: Crossing
Lia, an irascible retired teacher from Georgia, learns from her young neighbour, Achi, that her transgender niece, Tekla, has crossed the border into Turkey. In search of Tekla, Lia travels to Istanbul with the unpredictable and perennially hungry Achi, where, making an unlikely partnership, they explore the hidden depths of the city.
Premiering in the Panorama strand at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, Crossing is an engrossing mystery that's as captivating as it is compassionate.
For matinee screenings (any which start before 16:30) of Crossing we'll have free Turkish delight, sponsored by MUBI, and supplied by our new local Turkish patisserie Abu Bakr. (While it lasts!)
Part of the Summer Film Forum course, an eight-week film discussion course. See more details and book here.
