Why watch?
“25 years on from its original release Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s cult classic is still one of the best contemporary romantic films around. The rich colour palette, Yann Tiersen's dreamy soundtrack, the perfect casting of every weird and wonderful oddball in the place - it's quite simply perfect.”

Hyde Park Pick: Amélie
23-year-old Amélie Poulain is lonely. After an isolating childhood, she moves to Paris and becomes a waitress at the Café des Deux Moulins, a restaurant filled with a colourful cast of diners and employees. But, she exists as curious observer of this world, living her life always at a safe distance.
One night, Amélie happens across a box of treasures hidden in her apartment, stowed away for safe keeping by a young boy many years ago. This discovery throws open Amélie's mind to the possibility of a different life and she decides to dedicate herself to giving back to her community. This begins with the return of some more treasured belongings but that is just the beginning!
Whilst completing these good deeds, Amélie crosses paths with a mysterious stranger and the relative safety of her world is put at risk.
We'll have a short introduction by Cerys from Leeds University Film Society before the screening on Sun 12 Apr at 17:30.
