A Zed & Two Noughts
15

On the auspicious occasion of director Peter Greenaway's 81st Birthday (5th April), we present his groundbreaking masterpiece.
Drama • Critically Acclaimed • Pioneering

Identical twins lose their wives in a car crash caused by a white swan, but Alba, the driver survives with a leg amputation. Both brothers are zoologists and become obsessed with the death and decay of animals as they develop a strange and unusual relationship with the woman driving the car, who is now an amputee.

A Zed & Two Noughts, scored by Michael Nyman, is also the first film in collaboration with Sacha Vierny who also shot Last Year at Marienbad (1961). The film is famous for its striking symmetrical composition and eclectic use of colour and all of Greenaway's obsessions are present and correct: death, sex, light and Dutch golden-age painting.
